Old enough to bleed, old enough to breed.

Isnt that the saying, anyway, having babies at a young age uses the eggs when they are still good, not when they are all old and so are the mums. Thats why there are so many defunct genectics these days.

My mum had me when she was 36, and now I post here.  :(

Mother had me when she was 29, and now I post here. Mother had my sister on the next following year, and now she has her own family at 23.

Having kids at a young age doesn't always give you a spaz-free pass -- I'm livin' proof!

Unfortunately, most are.

I think my Current's mom was around that age when she had him- maybe 20, but 19 when she had his sister.  She has the "cool mom" thing in common with my mom, but from what I've seen in place of insanity, she has niceness.

My parents were 23-24 when they had me and my sister.

Amy and I are 28.
I came to this world with nothing
and I leave with nothing but love,
everything else is just borrowed.

Fuck it, we'll do it live.

Life isnt fair and life sucks a lot of the time. It's reality, deal.

But what I mean was, I hope they experience all the consequences that come with their actions. I hope they end up really knowing what it is that they have done.

For all anyone knows, They will all have their kids, they will all remain a close knit group and nothing bad will happen and they will merrily raise their kids.

We had our first kid when I was 24 and my wife was 21. Yes that's pretty young and we had no idea what we were doing at the time but we grew up pretty quick and it was probably the best thing that could have happened at that point in both our lives.

A 24 year old or even a 21 year old is more developed emotionally than a 16 year old. I would think 19 or 20 is the minimum age people should start having children.

There isnt that much difference really, its only a few years. And what do most people do in those few years? Either work or University, and a hell of a lot of partying. Plus having kids makes you grow up pretty fast anyway, you usually have no choice.

When I think about the story though, it is filled with a lot of social pressure and judgement. We all do shit when we are young and inexperienced, we all make mistakes etc. Seems like we are just trying to protect the younger members of our society from making the same mistakes that we did or heard about. But arent those mistakes a part of everyones life? Isnt it what makes us who we are today?

I for one are are/was sick of certain people telling me what I should be doing or what I did was wrong or a mistake. Fuck them, I'm not gonna listen to them anyway, who does? I'm gonna go out and make those mistakes for myself and learn the hard way. People who are over cautious never live life to its fullest or anywhere near it. Making mistakes is the best way to learn about life. In fact its one of the most important parts of life. If you dont learn to make mistakes well, you end up not living life. This is something I'm not good at. We are taught that making mistakes is bad when what we should be taught is how to handle mistakes, because its a fact of life that we are going to be making a hell of a lot of them.

Who knows, these girls could end up with no real problems concerning their plans. Which will just mean that the observers will try and find any little thing to pick on, and to be honest, is anyones life perfect?

I know myself that watching my kids grow up and make all the same mistakes that everyone else does is going to be the hardest thing in the world as far as being a parent is concerned. That and slowly letting go over time.

I do think as far as parental capability mental age is more important than chronological age,* but I have trouble with the idea of a 14, 15, or 16-year-old-girl being considered "old enough" that getting pregnant is a wise decision.  For all I know some or all of them could be wonderful mothers, ultimately- but they're so young, and if they do keep and raise their children will miss a lot; they and their children will also start off by default in a more difficult financial place than other girls of comparable preexisting wealth/lack thereof (e.g. how well-off their families are) who do not have children yet.

*I'd bet money Current's mom had a better grasp on parenting at 20 than my mom would have now at 45- I was actually talking about the pregnancy pact with him last night and it came up, and he basically agreed that if his mother hadn't had her head screwed on as straight as she did/does, things could have been pretty rough for him- the way he put it was he might have known at the time that he was poor, instead of figuring it out in retrospect.  She's an absolutely wonderful woman.
