Older Homes
« on: May 20, 2008, 09:26:35 PM »
I started this after silly mistakes to discuss older houses. I have always like older homes and have a special place in my heart for them.  This is my grandmother's house years ago build originally around 1840

I'd love to be able to go to Europe just to see the the buildings.  My town was founded in 1639 and has several from the 1600's.  I would love to see a real thatch roof

It looks a lot newer than 1830. Isn't that modern siding?

I was about to say that. It looks a lot more modern than 1830. :-\

It had been "updated"several times  the original siding was plank barn style that you can still see from inside I don't think it was always a house.  Think it was some sort of out building.  There were a mix of cut and handmade nails used in it's construction which put it in that era

Yeah, the placement of that window above the door doesn't look like typical house designs of the early 1800's. I could believe a converted barn or outbuilding of some kind.

Old houses are pretty cool. I used to live in a 2,500 square foot farm house the basement was massive and I found historical things in it. Like old farm equipment and those little identification rings they put on chicken's feet which me and my very small group of freinds wore.
It was right near the Point Roberts border into the states. We used to go to the states a lot cause it was two minutes away.
