I got so sick of people ringing and not leaving a message on our machine, so I changed the greeting to:

SPEAK!<BEEP>
I am going to have to use this sometime in the future. I like it.

I have more trouble making a phone call than answering the phone.

Yeah me too, although I'm not sure if its the phone or the people attatched to the other end of the phone call.

People. It's always the people.

If it wasnt for other people and reality, we'd all get along just fine.

The trouble I have with making a call is when I think of what to say beforehand, then someone unexpected answers the phone or the person I want to speak to is not there. It messes me up and then I can't figure out what to say and "um" "er" happens.

:agreed:

I have to plan it out ahead of time.

Case in point... I didn't plan meeting my ex-boss well enough, when we met, he held out his right hand, I put my resume in it instead of shaking it.

When I met my psychologist, he said "Hi, I'm Bryce."  I said, "Hi, I'm Bryce."

 I wonder if he diagnosed you on the spot?

Or sent you away, saying that there's nothing he can do for you.

I try to at least map out what I want to say, especially for stressful situations, but sometimes the things I want to say fly right out of my head, so sometimes I try to make notes for especially stressful conversations, like taking my daughter to the doctor, for example.

You know what I find annoying. Finding I have a message on my answering machine and I hit play but instead it's a blank message because someone didn't leave one, instead it's just them breathing or background noise, etc.

Yeah, my scripts sometimes go right out of my head.
