Do you ever tell guys that you're gay to stop them hitting on you?

That seems a little logically flawed... then I'd get a reputation for being gay and maybe girls would start hitting on me instead. Nah, far more effective to just say I'm too screwed up to fuck anybody.

What do you do when you need to stimulate your creativity?

Are you pleased or disappointed with your movie's performance in theaters?  Do you think its any good?

Stop talking to people is a good start. Go out by myself someplace I've never been before. Watch a good movie that I haven't seen before. Get some new music. Move across the country.

The animation is good, the plot is crap. It would be cool if it was doing better, but I'm more glad that people as a whole are smart enough to notice and give a damn about the mess the director made of the subtext. Every time a bad review comes out, someone posts it to the company mailing list and people start trashing the reviewer. They're as bad as bully kids themselves - and they call this shit "team spirit". Yeah - maybe if people (including myself of course) had been more willing to give honest opinions instead of making fun of anyone who complained about the message and preachiness because "it's just a kids' movie", more could have been salvaged. Because the reviewers are right - it does play like a Red propaganda film.

All through production, people were eyeing each other and quietly asking "Another ant movie?" but what could be done? Tom Hanks wanted this movie for his kid, and Tom Hanks has the money and connections. I loved working on my first movie, and I still love Zoc despite the fact they cut his flashback scene. But I didn't write this "crude, joyless and unfunny piece of altruistic propaganda" (Box Office Mojo).

At least its main competition is Monster House.

Isn't it just hilarious/pathetic how often you see this sort of behavior?

What scares you more: that so many people allow themselves into this brand of idiocy, or the fact that it actually works?

Quite.

What scares you more: that so many people allow themselves into this brand of idiocy, or the fact that it actually works?

The fact that it works. The fact that they get so caught up in it, it distracts them from what is in front of their faces. And the fact that I actually thought twice before talking about the movie on here, in case posts on this site were google-able.

You said you are studying sociology and politics. What do you think of people in the aggregate? I refer to the tendency of people to dissolve their individual identities into the group's and often by the same token absolve themselves of personal responsibility.
Now they're calling me "the Wal-Mart of starry-eyed romantics, always rolling back standards for women," and "a most malodorous new breed of pugly American capitalist swine."
