I was wondering if you were familiar with trueSpace from Caligari, if it is something you would play with, have played with or if it a waste of time to download.
I have read that it is a "half decent, beginner's 3D software set."
It is free (version 7.6) right now (but you have to set up an account and they email you a private link to get the file) and I was hoping you could tell me something about it. I am not familiar, but I plan to download it and have a look, unless you advise against it.
I'm not familiar with it, so I don't have a good sense of its strengths and weaknesses. I looked through its site though and it does seem decent.
What do you want to do with it? In the past I've recommended Gmax to people who were looking for free 3d software to play with, but that was because it was compatible with 3d Studio Max and some game engines.
OK, Thanks.
I'm probably not going to do anything, other than play. Much like my fractals, I will mostly give images to people, print a few to hang in free places and (very seldom) sell one, if I am lucky.
I am most interested in using it to create other-worldly ?-scapes. I have an early version of Bryce, which I have played around with quite a bit, putting fractal skins on terrain, oceans, clouds and other obsessive nonsense, but I find it to be
not very intuitive to work with. Most of the free tutorials I've seen assume that you are comfortable with its interface, but I am not. It fights me.
