Being treated like children
« on: January 30, 2008, 03:47:08 PM »
I've come to the conclusion that some
people actually LIKE being patronized.

Seems unbelievable, to me.
Behavior that would have me
close to throwing hands, is the
assumed, for some.

my usual response to cries of, "stop treating me like a kid!" is, "stop acting like one, then."

just thought i'd point that out.

I hate being patronised
It bothered me more when I got it from other kids at school because they thought I was thick (I never answered even simple questions when asked and things like that, even though I knew the answers)

Being treated like I'm stupid by people who I'm likely more intelligent than pisses me off the most
I can understand why most people tend to treat me like  a child sometimes, as I can be pretty immature, and emotionally I am more like a 13 year old apparently
I don't think that is true though, but I am quite naive in ways other people my age seem to have grown out of. Maybe that's why people treat me younger than I am. I figure they'll stop eventually though so it doesn't bother me too much.

Hopefully I will seem older to people though eventually. I think people see me as younger than I am (IRL anyway, dunno about online), and that's why they treat me younger

Yeah. you look young.

I get that too, I think.
But, I know that how I
act, and the life that I've
led effect it, as well.

My mom is weird about it.
I mean, she certainly treats me
as an adult, in some ways. Like
shit we can talk about.

But, yeah, that's tough to overcome.

I feel like my dad treats me less as
one, but is just less infuriating about it.

It's funny though, with my close friends,
I never really felt like any of us treated one
another like adults. We just were what we
were. No big deal.

That's how I feel with close friends
I am just myself and they are just themselves
It was more about who they were than what they are. And their ages came under "what"
