Maybe so but a sound point none the less.
In the same way that you would not head to a Biker bar in your finest, order Dom Pérignon, and tell them barman to change channels and the Bikies to keep the noise down, use better language and use more decorum.
I2 today is not i2 of yesteryear. It is a knitting circle. Those that participate be they nice or asshats know their place and the price to be there. Odeon is the overlord

.Benevolent if you toe the line.

Think it is I2 of old? Even Odeon is not so delusional as to think otherwise. He may on occasionally pretend otherwise but his base is that knitting circle.

Censoring/banning/restricting/moderating myself, Calanadale & Scrapheap were all not his finest moments.

How to apologise to Scrap

I can't help but smirk...That's probably something I more forward and confident (in RL) me would do...And probably die for it. But yes I do understand your point.

Yes, I am seriously saying that. I have had the tests done several times, last when I was dx'd with AS, and the results are consistently a lot higher than yours.

What test did you take and how much did you score at the specific sub-types of IQ (verbal IQ, processing speed, performance IQ and processing memory)? You make me curious.

Can you tell me why this bugs you so much?

It doesn't bug me. I just find it quite hard to believe.

It's funny, though, because the reason you're calling me prejudiced and whatnot is because I strongly disagree with practically all of your views.

I'm not calling you prejudiced for strongly disagreeing with me. I'm calling you prejudiced for not being willing to look into the evidence and for rejecting everything I say on forehand without having done any proper research. Most highly intelligent people whom I know personally don't take anything for granted unless they have properly researched it themselves.

I can--and did--dismiss a person with an IQ of 137 as a Nazi with deplorable views, and because of his considerable stupidity and narrow-mindedness.

You're the narrowminded one as you're only willing to look into sources from one particular perspective and you are not willing to contemplate ideas that conflict strongly with yours.

On the other hand, I've studied sources from a multitude of conflicting perspectives for years and have moved from liberal Catholicism over atheist anarchism to the views I currently hold, only on the basis of rational arguments that I discovered during my research. How is that even possible for a narrowminded person?

You may think my views are deplorable, but that's a very subjective statement and I happen to feel exactly the same about your views. Do you have moral authority because your views are mainstream and mine are not? Do you realise that most of my views were quite mainstream for most of human history and in most cultures? In fact, they're still quite mainstream anywhere besides the Western world.

It should be the top 2%, btw, not the top 3%. If I remember it correctly, scoring at or above the 98th percentile on any of the approved tests is the only requirement for Mensa membership.

Correct.

I'm well aware of the ignore mod, and refuse to use it. And even if I did, there's no reason to be a dick about the mod. If you don't agree with Illusions beliefs then just say so and exit the thread, or utilise the oft mentioned Ignore mod, no need to be an immature antagonistic bitch.

That's what I've been saying for quite some time now.

And Illusions you decry the lack of tolerance and open mindedness here, but lack it yourself when you claim to not tolerate gay people, and call other people here jerks.

I call people here jerks only when they behave like jerks. I make no judgement based on their political views, religious views, ethnic background, gender, sexual preference, etc.

Besides that, I disagree with homosexuallity being regarded as a non-deviant equivalent for heterosexuality and the propaganda used by the so-called "gay rights" movement to promote it as such. I respect the existence of homosexuality as a deviance besides heterosexuality and one of my best friends happens to be a lesbian. Thus, I can hardly be called intolerant.

I'm all for open minded discussions ands debates here, but if you don't agree with someone's view point either contest them with valid evidence or walk away. It's really that simple.

But no! We have to play the NT game and make with the attacking and bitchiness toward someone, anyone (that applies to all) who is different to yourself. Seesh lest we have some fucking diversity here, oh no, we can't have that now can we. We must all follow the same rules and be little fucking trolls. Fuck, you all suck.

Finally someone with some common sense :)

It's not that I disagree with the act of making the choices, but rather the choices themselves. Of those participating (including Illusions) in the argument Parts seems to be the only one being mature about it. Sure you can choose to be immature, but, like all other choices, it will lead to consequences based on those choices. Me loosing respect for you, being one possible consequence. I don't agree with Illusions point of view, and have no need to argue it with him, but I was interested in how he came to that point of view, so I probed that, but I did so in a mature manner.

In spite of what you may think of my overall behavior, you'll have to admit that my attitude towards you was very mature and respectful, no?

I tend to treat people the way they treat me. If they treat me with respect and kindness, I treat them with respect and kindness (regardless of race, creed, sexual preference, etc.). If they treat me like shit, I treat them like shit (regardless of race, creed, sexual preference, etc.).

With regards to parts, he is trying. He is definitely trying, but he is still too prejudiced to actually have a proper discussion like I've had with others in the past. You can't have a proper discussion if you're not willing to put an effort in your arguments on the assumption that your arguments will be ignored anyway.

The way you respond to your enemies is just as, if not more, important than the way you respond to your allies.

Words of wisdom.

Point is, the thread started to be something about Wankplanet, and probably some bitching and moaning that was happening there. Then it turned into an off-topic rant about Illusionists favourite thing; the Holocaust. Virtually all of us were never around during that period of history, and it means practically nothing to us (unless we had family members involved, which is highly unlikely) so it seems pretty futile carrying on a one-sided debate about something nobody else really gives a stuff about.

First of all, I understood from others that going off-topic is the normal thing to do at IntensitySquared, so I figured there was no need to continue the topic in a seperate thread.

Second, GalileoAce also pointed out that the proper thing to do when you're not interested in a topic is to ignore it. By reacting in a hostile fashion, you only prolong the discussion in a very unpleasant way. If you ignore it, eventually the topic will die out or it will take place only between those who are actually interested. On topics I know little to nothing about, I personally find it more interesting to see others discuss then to troll the topic and cause a fuzz.

I wasn't around for WWII but both my father and grandfather served during that time (Signal Corps and US Army, respectively.). I also have friends who lost family members in the camps. So it's not something I care to put in a file and forget about.

My grandfather was in hiding throughout the war to avoid being temporarilly deported to Germany for forced labor. A neighbor of mine (who told me of his experiences) was actually sent to Germany for forced labor. My great-grandparents were even forced to provide shelther for consecutively Belgian, German and English soldiers between '39 and '45 (which was common for people living close to the Eastern border of Belgium). Yet, that doesn't mean I shut my mind for any arguments disputing the status quo. A Jewish MSN-friend of mine lost various members of her family during the war, yet even she realises that the evidence of extermination is quite weak.

Adding to this, is the fact that I've also heard the stories of people from the "other side". Someone told me about how his grandfather became an ardent supporter of national-socialism after returning from forced labor in Germany. I've visited a meeting of SS veterans and read several editions of an SS veteran magazine (given to me by a friend who's a kind father of three children with many connections among SS veterans). etc.

Every coin had two sides. When only looking at one side, you might miss the actual value of the coin.

"Millions of people can't be wrong".

Oh most assuredly they can, just look at how Hitler came to power (to use that as a metaphor).

Maybe the German people was right back then and wrong today. Who are we to judge anyway?

I pity Illusions. I don't agree with his opinions of beliefs on what occured during WW2. My own opinions on the issue are clouded, as I don't truly know what occured, but I'm leaning more toward 'accepted' fact and away from what Illusions believes. But that doesn't mean I'm going to call him names for his beliefs.

That's exacrly the same attitude I have towards people whom I disagree with. I don't see why so many people allow disagreement to be the cause of hostility.

Well then, how do you view Autism? As a deviance of the norm? Or perhaps an example of diversity? And what of transgender?

I see it as a mental deviance, but not necessarilly as a handicap. I've met various officially diagnosed Aspies who can function perfectly in NT society, although with some limitations. The same is true for me. I would even say that I function better in some areas than NTs, for example in programming.

And what of transgender?

I also see it as a mental deviance. It's probably caused by hormonal imbalance and I strongly object to sex changes for such people. After all, who really does feel 100% satisfied with their bodies?

For the same reason, I object to plastic surgery in general. We should accept the bodies given to us by nature, with both the upsides and the downsides.

I don't see any problem with that. Although this is indeed some form of body modification, it is of a nature completely different from changing the shape of your nose, breasts, etc.

Nevertheless, I'd say most tattoos and piercings are quite ugly and I don't think I'd ever use either myself, even though I would love to have had a Yakuza-like dragon tattoo on my back when I was a teenager :D.

A possum was trapped in the house on Monday night. I woke up to it flinging itself bodily at the glass window in the kitchen. Poor little bugger was scared shitless when he heard me banging down the hallway ready to brain whatever intruder had woken me. Fucked if i know how he got in. I think he might have been a little concussed or worse for wear because he looked like he'd one 2 rounds with Mike Tyson when he left. I had left the light and front door open for him.

It's one thing having a thread go off topic, but you seemed to have hijacked the thing for your own purposes, and placed yourself on a soapbox like a certain moustachioed man whom you speak about. Sir Les, Odeon, myself and one or two others feel that this bullshit has degenerated into the sound of one hand clapping; and even though we could use the ignore mod, it's our forum just the same as anyone else's, and we will say what we like. If we choose to blow your whiny little novel off like a book reviewer with a hangover, then so be it. I wouldn't be surprised if parts is only playing along with you because he wants to hoist you by your own petard. We could do research and debate like what you want, but seeing as it's SOOOO fucking boring, we decided 'fuck, we have much better things to do, like clean the dunny or wash the dishes....'

Or this, maybe:  :squit: or this  :69: or even  :titfuck:

So cut the  :hitler:  :pinocchio:   :poop: , get off yer   :soapbox: and quit  :deadhorse: , because this has gotten so  ,

This is as true for you as it is for me. GalileoAce's attitude is a perfect example of how a mature person deals with a situation like this. Your behavior is a perfect example of how an immature brat deals with a situation like this.

I got out the first series of Smallville out today. I don't know anyone else who has seen it. I am hoping it is OK. mind you it is only a rental and weekly at that. Did like Dexter Morgan and Deadwood is the bomb. Obviously (See Avatar) The crazy thing is I rarely find time to actually watch movies. I work or I am on the iternet. Why I get out movies I dunno. I bought "Stripes", "Snatch" and "Sixth Sense though.
They are all keepers.
Hope I get some sleep tonight. I got Gall Bladder Colic last night and little sleep. Agonising pain for 2 or so hours.
Worried too I am unable to get hold of my Nanny service. I have two kids that need picking up at 3pm tomorrow and I am working until 6 and I have no one to pick them up. It suck arse.
Now even if I do get in contact she will be "What? Today?" and I will be saying "Well I have left messages and emails and you never got back to me" and somehow it will all be my fault and she will fuck me over.

And I could tell you to shove a broom up your arse and sweep yourself off to the nearest gas chamber, but seeing as you seem to think somebody died and left you in charge, you'd just carry on like the dickhead you are. How long did it take before they banned you from AFF and Wankplanet; half as many posts? Three quarters, even? Shit, given the rules they have, I'm surprised you lasted that long. I can think of at least one other conspiracy nut who might be able to match wits with you, and even he gave WP the arse. Ever heard of snake321? Both you and he could start yourr own exclusive forum just for this soapbox shit. But seeing as you decided to come here and try and infect us with your drivel, then the least you can do is take the antidote we are offering.

Three things about the war, neither of which we give a toss about.....

 :hitler: :headexplode:  :flame:

so consign it to history and change the fucking record.
