This morning, I walked into work, and before I could even make it to my office, my boss called to me and told me that he needed to speak with me.  I walked in to his office and he shut the door.  He told me that we had lost KB Homes as a client because we'd been underbid by another company... so they were going to have to let me go.  I was laid off.

I'm so happy.

I cleaned out my office and went to my exit interview... when I walked out, I had a note on the car, Amy told me to come back and get her.  She'd been fired as well!!  That shit pissed me off.  I mean, firing me is one thing... I can understand that, because honestly I was a fucking slacker there lately.  She pwns at that job.  Seriously though... they fired both of us... we're pretty screwed now.  I don't really know what to do.  I could go get unemployment... but, I hate the idea of that. 

Oh well.  Whatever.  I'm updating my resume now and I'm gonna start the job search.

It sucks to hear you are both going to have to job search.   I hate looking for a job more than actually working at a job that I hate sometimes.   Well you were showing signs of seriously disliking your job anyways.   I hope you find a job that is more to your liking.   There really isn't that much logic behind laying people off other than keeping the CEO and stockholders rich.

I wish you well in your job search.  You should both collect unemployment that's what it's there for.  BTW KB Homes is a shitty company that builds everything on low bid contracts and they abuse their subs and pay late

Unemployment does not pay you very much compared to what you got from working, but you may as well get what you can until you both find a job that you want.

I'v taken unemployment before, it sucked, BUT, it served as a bridge until I found a different situation.

This kids, is why buying Plasma screens and not saving anything is a bad idea. You never know when this sort thing could happen and you want to have some funds set aside for long enough to find more work.

No, you're completely right Klox.  Actually, we had just transferred all of our debt to a no interest credit card, so that's excellent.  We have both applied for unemployment now.  It was foolish not to.  We'll see how it goes.  Thanks for the well wishes everyone.

The thing with unemployment is, it is a fund that your late employer pays into to take care of people that they screw over eventually.  So it's there, your former employer has paid into it, albeit a pittance of their profits, but, they laid you off, they left you high and dry, so make use of it as long as you need it or can use it.
