Weird weather
« on: January 11, 2008, 07:13:47 AM »
Weird weather only a little here but this
It snowed in Baghdad first in over 100 years
Tornadoes in the Midwest n the winter
Big west coast storms

Lots of exiting weather lately and thoughts

To tell the truth I like strange weather.  The bigger the storm for me is usually better for some reason dramatic air pressure changes make me feel like I am high ???

That's why they call it Global Climate Change now, and not Global Warming...  Global warming is a misnomer.
I came to this world with nothing
and I leave with nothing but love,
everything else is just borrowed.

Fuck it, we'll do it live.

... misnomer?

How so?

Global warming is not a misnomer since the Earth as a whole is getting warmer.  It is just that people don't realize that extreme cold incidents can still happen, albeit less often than extreme warm incidents.

But isn't it a proven fact that the overall "average temperature" of the earth is over a full degree C above the overall average fifty years ago? The notion of such a rapid change, of any sort, in a supposedly stable system is the reason for the Chicken Little act in the science community a few years ago, even more so than the ever increasing hole in the southern polar ozone layer.

It is how we interpret these changes that is part of the problem. I like this article where the writer states that this hysteria is drummed up from personal ambitions in the manner of using an "availability cascade" to draw attention to a cause for your own gain.

I don't like how people use GW to blame for specific event's (Katrina and CA wildfires).  This is not example of climate change, it is just weather.

The frequency of said weather, however, can be blamed on global warming.
