Holiday decorations

Decorating for the holidays sucks.  We are getting our tree tomorrow I am not looking forward to it. Am I a grinch or do others feel the same?

I used to love the holiday decorations,
but never could really be bothered. Then,
when it made my wife happy to get lights,
I went all out, making designs with them,
in order to surprise her for a while. That
brought back some of the feelings. There
was always a certain melancholy niceness
to the whole thing. Now I couldn't be bothered
though. Pretty much ruined everything for my
family too, in the end.

I liked it too when  was younger know it seems a chore.  I fake though because the kids like it for me it brings back memories I don't want dredged up

For me, everything about it is bittersweet.

i can't even touch the ornaments without washing my hands. i say, what's the point? but mom will put them up. i guess they are nice.

My house looks like the Christmas elves (mostly pagan) have puked Christmas Joy all over the house.

My wife is nothing but a grown up kid, with mischevious, sparkly eyes, when it comes to Christmas, but she has many resources, these days. The real kids love it, but there is no way I could do this for them. Withhout her, our Christmas would be bland.

christmas is a magical time for children especially. when you get old and worn out you just want it to be an ordinary fucking day every day or something. no christmasses or birthdays. too much effort.

if i lived on my own i wouldnt bother either. we get a tree and stuff though because i have two brothers who are 6 and 3
i kind of like xmas in a way because it reminds me of when i was a kid and was happy and had no responsibilities or anything. and i like the weather. but other than that, i don't really get it. i like chocolate at easter though.
