My son bought me a spice rub collection for Father's day, my wife got me a basting pot set to keep basting liquids warm on the side of the grille. "hint, hint!"
Rained most of yesterday and if the morning storms got it all done for today, I am lighting my grille.
Spicy Zulu Stew.
It's a sachet of sauce from Aldi (discount supermarket chain that runs weird promos) and I just browned some chicken breast and added the sauce and simmered for a few minutes.
It's very good. It was sitting in the cupboard for about 6 months and I figured that today was as good a time as any to use it.
We have Aldi's here. One of my old co-worker's wives was a power couponer and Aldi's was her favorite place.
I love the down and dirty, quick and easy packaged meal starters. I use a brand, Knorr, often for quick, low effort "feed ME, NOW" meals. A shortcut I take more regularly, these days.
I love to cook from scratch, but we all eat at different times, mostly, so any kind of high effort, presentation worthy meals have to wait .
