It seems that I use humour to keep people at arms length (if I'm too busy bullshitting about some random nonsense then it gives them no time to think about any in depth questions). Only it doesn't work that way because they end up thinking I'm this super sociable guy that loves being around people.

I've often said to my brother that being around people is like being on stage performing...acting. When I finally get home I can breathe a sigh of relief that I no longer feel like a spotlight is on me.

I have mates but never invite them over, and if they invite themselves I can never wait on them going home again once they've arrived.

So I suppose my answer is, I tolerate few but distance myself from all.
