I just came back from Harley's vet appt and I'm now qualified to do a skin line IV in animals. :green: The vet gave me a  and said I was a natural. It was actually kind of comical. Harley actually started purring when I stuck him with the needle.  :zombiefuck: He stayed perfectly still for the 15 mins it took me to run his IV.

Maybe your cat is into S&M? Today I completed a trade and brought home my S&W M&Pc. Will post pics later.

Mother cats and kittens purr at each other to establish mutual reassurance. A severely traumatised cat will purr as an appeal for gentle treatment. It's a conditioned reflex in the species.

I did not know that. Purring cats are cool. I like cats and most of them like me but I am allergic to them.

Okay, I was feeling really good until I got to this part. :P

Although I have to say, he was really relaxed and snuggly and not the least bit tense. I think he was quite aware that it makes him feel better. I got lots of kisses and snuggles while we waited for the session to end. He associates it with a positive experience because he gets so much TLC for the time it takes to run the fluid. He sits there patiently while I put the needle in. No flinching. No stress.

Poor guy though.

Sorry, CG, I know you aren't mistreating Harley. Far from it, you're giving him the best possible care that any loving pet owner could. It's just that most of us associate purring in cats with sunny windows and sitting in warm laps. The notion that a cat might bust out purring while getting an IV is a bit odd, but it's still natural cat behaviour.
