Does your airplane fascination include passenger jets?

For the most part, no.

And if so, which ones?

Only oddball ones like the Fokker 614.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VFW-Fokker_614

And if not, why not?

First of all, they all tend to look the same, a cylindrical fuselage with an engine hanging off of each wing, BORING! Second, most of them are pavement queens. They can't operate out of short unimproved runways the way a DHC-7 can.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DHC-7  Last, they just don't have the charachter that a propeller plane has.

+ I love that last one.

I love some passenger jets. Yes, they may be cylindrical and boring and mostly alike, but planes like the old MD-11 or a 747 appeal to me.

As does a 737, actually, for some reason. The Airbus equivalents, OTOH, similar as they are, are infinitely boring.

I loved the old 727. I loved the classic Caravelle. I loved the 707.

Agreed. I always liked the name "scrapheap", too.

I can understand the appeal of the tri-jets because they're a bit unusual and just look cool with the engine in the tail. The Caravelle has some very appealing lines, I like the rounded tail. The 747 is iconic and has some interesting lines too. The rest are just cookie-cutter look-alike designs.

The tri-jets are unusual, yes, but it's not just that. Those planes are cool, simple as that. :)

I remember loving the 707 as a kid. Seeing one live at the Smithsonian rekindled that love for me. There was something very, very special about that one.

They're an abomination dog breed that never should've been.
