I thought I read last year that Hollywood wouldn't be sending out reels any longer.  They'd be sending DVDs.  Cheaper for them, more expensive to replace the projection equipment.

DVDs don't have anywhere near the quality required to be projected on the big screen. More and more films are delivered on hard drives and the like, yes, but so far a lot of the films are still on 35 mm. When that is no longer the case I'll retire. I don't actually need the job, I only do it because I love film projection.
