Dreading my appointment with my doctor, next Thursday.

I am having X-rays done of my dodgy hip joint. Yesterday, he did an extensive physical exam and my doctor condemned me to surgery with his bare hands upon my naked body. There is little hope of recovery from an injury, now three years old.

The X-rays are a formality and a precursor to the determination of what to do after the cutting begins.

 :violin:

These final tests are also designed to keep my attitude leaning toward a positive tone.

Some of my research shows that about twenty percent of men, fifty six years of age, have already had some form of hip surgery. (that is an average number - the extremes are much worse)

Well, now at least you won't have to worry about being drafted by the Rockettes or the Paris Can-Can dancers.

I am still looking to find the positive part.

The positive part is that now you know...although, insurance companies
being the way they are, I imagine a second opinion will be required?   :nerd!:

I hope everything goes well and you are freed from this pain.

Good luck, anyway. This is what I've feared with my hip problems but it seems I'm not there yet. OTOH, I have another ten years to get there.

Chances are that the positive part will be found after the operation.

Before you set your cane aside, do the research to find the percentage of men your age who have already undergone such procedures.

I thought I could put mine off for ten years as well, but the quality of my life has already been affected.

I have also found that, as I favor my dodgy hip joint, my knee and ankle have become problematic. Do not allow it to go "this far."

I think the burger place might be very quiet tonight...we're supposed to have bad weather soon!

Do the employees share tips or are you paid a straight/living wage?  Low traffic is a bummer for tip earners.

We are paid a decent hourly wage, fortunately.  :)

Thanks for the positive thoughts!

I've started having leg muscle problems, possibly related to the hip.

The doc didn't see anything wrong with the hip joint, though, which is what I meant. I got a referral to another doc but it's going to take a while.

Fortunately, my doc saw me the next day.  I was not expecting for him to feel my joints while I was naked, but he eliminated in one office visit the possibility that I will recover on my own.

Even after I began questioning him, assuring him that I am "still healthy"  and shit, he showed me how my pain was being created by producing it at will, with me lying flat on my back, in a moment just by pushing my hip joint into the areas where my ligament support has begun to fail.

This is a scary place for me to find myself.  Every beating I have ever suffered has eventually healed and I became stronger for it. Every old injury has become tolerable in ways that have taught me a kind of humility in the occupation of my own corporal body. Everything I have ever suffered, except for my wisdom teeth growing back three time has been something that I could handle on my own.

This is "new ground"  for me to tread. I am not going to be able to control this. It scares the fuck out of me!
