I think that
follistatin might be the key to my super-strength. I've been curious for years about why I put on muscle so easily and lose it so slowly, and according to my mum, my dad was quite muscular too, despite him living on a diet of chips and cigarettes and getting no exercise.
I've ruled out high testosterone levels as a likely candidate, since I don't have the aggression, high libido, body hair and other characteristics that would indicate elevated testosterone levels, and I've wondered if I have a single defective copy of the gene for
myostatin, but a mutation that increases the activity of follistatin would better fit my observations, since in addition to unusual muscle growth, my body hair is quite sparse. I have enough hair on my legs and chest to keep me from looking like a kid and I have just enough facial hair for it to look like shit if I don't shave, but it's just peach fuzz over most of the rest of my body, and my back and arse are so bare that they almost look waxed.
