When did the word "fart" enter the literature taught at the fourth grade level?

My son is doing a skit on his sleep over night at school, acting out portions of a book, which I had objections to from the beginning, but they have studied and his character will be The Fart Police, FFS!!

(I had a little question or two about the wisdom of presenting the "Captain Underpants"  series as wholesome and true literature, as well.)

LOL, school of today is a joke. We had to pray morning prayer when I went to school, even after it became illegal for the teachers to "force religion" upon the pupils in 1979, and we weren't allowed to have our elbows on the table while eating lunch.

And of course we would never have been allowed to write something with "fart" as the subject.

My sons used to bring home book-club catalogues from their primary school which were chockablock with movie and TV tie-in merchandise, craft and hobby supplies, computer software, and occasionally an actual book such as Andy Griffith's deathless The Day My Bum Went Psycho, or perhaps the Dragonology/Wizardology/Egyptology/etc. oeuvre. Anything to get the little dahlin's to read, although the amount of reading they actually end up doing is debatable.

Why the fuck am I up so goddamn early? If this is what happens when I go to bed at 2215, then fuck that. I'll continue to stay up until Midnight or later and be half asleep on the drive to work, so I can nap that first hour in the office.
