Hmm. I just received a phonecall from one of the volunteer managers at the hospice. He wanted to inquire about my absence from there. I was frank with him and said that I'm looking for paid work, by whatever means necessary. It's nice to know that some people from there do miss me from there.
The thing is, though, if they weren't paid to do their work there, wouldn't they feel the same way as I do right now? Hmm.
I also don't understand the cynicism surrounding volunteer work. To the likes of my father and my DEA, it's beneath paid work because of the lack of wage and sympathetic nature.
