A disappointment.

It's better than its reputation but a lot worse than it could have been.  :-\

I finally rented it.  I liked it pretty well.  Maybe my expectations were too high before I saw it.

It is based on Jerry Newport's story.  I know him from another forum, so I had to see "his" movie when I could.

The reason it is called "Mozart and the Whale" is because Jerry wore a whale costume to a Halloween costume party for his and Mary's first "date," while she wore a Mozart costume.

My problem with my confusing a memory from THAT movie with reality is that it's supposedly really exaggerated and not realistic, and yet apparently it was realistic enough for me to think it happened.  Worse, it was at a point where you feel really bad for the guy because of how the girl is and has been acting.   :-\ :laugh:
