I'm thinking about the design of the outdoor terrestrial salamander enclosures that I'm going to build.  The garden has a healthy population of mice living in it, and I don't want them to burrow into or chew through the walls of the enclosures and eat/injure the salamanders or leave holes that the salamanders can escape through.

Are you looking to get rid of the mice, Peter, or designing your way around them?

Designing my way around them.  Without the mice, I'd still need to make the enclosures cat, dog, fox and bird-proof, and adding mouse-proofing might be easier and more reliable than getting rid of the mice.

A thin layer of cement before the liner might prevent anything from below. Safety from above is a tough one, considering aesthetics.
