carla,
-Understand principles of democracy and plan and carry out instruction that promotes democratic values and communication in the classroom.
the thing i understand about democracy is that it is a struggle for the rights of each person.
it never happens overnight (ie:the civil rights movement, womens suffrage), it is a slow process; a struggle.
the reason for this, i think is so the system isn't thrown into shock by radical change.
in the classroom setting, i would think that it would have to do with learning about each pupil and their needs, slowly incorporating their needs and talents and incorporating them all into a productive learning environment, where its an efficient plan (and understandable) for the entire classroom, encouraging individual participation based upon each childs strength. taking each child's weakness and making it a non factor.
basically teamwork.
