I had to disable sleep mode because of that problem, seemed to fix it.

When I was running OSX on a G3 imac, it would munch hard drives because it likes to use the hard drive as a 'virtual ram' - and with the G3 processor not being able to keep up with the demand OSX places on system resources, that poor little drive was just spinning all the time.
I found a much better use for that old imac:

if the hackintosh isnt a viable option, ill just go find a nice powerbook g4.

i kinda like the idea of being able to run windows on a partition, so i can game if i want.

but i need osx, id loose it if i had to use win all the time.

Meh, XP is fine. Vista gives me the shits. File copy problems and network file copy problems in Vista are just bullshit that shouldn't happen.

I find that's usually a RAM problem, and not the OS. I remember one time years ago, I kept having my files corrupting with all sorts of crazy errors popping up on occasion. It turned out the RAM I was using exceeded the laptop's motherboard capacity (2GB when limited to 1GB). Not saying that's the problem, but RAM issues in general can really cause some strange things to happen.

The problem I'm talking about is where it starts the copy and sits there forever trying to guess how long the copy or move is going to take and then after a long time just shits itself and says "fucked if I know, but I can't copy theses files for shit"

Odd, I've never had problems with that on Vista. I have heard of something similar though when it first came out, before SP1 was released.

Had this on Vista32 SP2 as well as Win7 RC1. It's rare, but not that rare, but there is no official solution, and even the unofficial solutions rarely work.

It's a pity too. Because you need 64bit OS for more than 4GB and large mem VGA cards (1-2GB) and XP64 is balls. So that leaves you with Vista64 and Win7-64.

Fuck, when I'm forced to upgrade, I'll probably go Win7-64 and an 64-128GB SSD or some thing.

I remember as a kid I longed for one of those iMacs, my spazz school had 3-4 of them. They had that vibe that Macs don't have these days. OS9 was alright, but it did crash a lot from my experience. :facepalm2:

Never used any old apple computers. Before PCs I've mostly been an Amiga man. I might buy one again, along with a c64.

If a computer isn't ultimately making your life worse, then it isn't doing it's job.

my computer is very lazy then

It's not a computer, it's an appliance. Like a broom. No one gets excited about brooms.

I beg to differ if there's a horny woman involved...

And yes, I have seen porn featuring exactly that, women fucking broom handles, srsly.
Existence actually has two broad meanings despite its apparent meaningless. The constant reconciliation of all its parts, and the conservation of any closed system as a whole.

Morality can be extrapolated from these meanings to make these two commandments of godless morality: 1). Be in harmony with one another and 2). Care for the environment.
