I'm sure my son is on the spectrum, and so were his school. No formal dx, as yet- the waiting list is so bloody long that he left school before he reached the head of the queue (grr).

His Dad is NT.

Interestingly, I've yet to encounter an aspie mother with an NT son; loads with NT daughters, but sons of Aspie mothers always seem to turnn out be on the spectrum. If there's an exception to that rule on this board, please speak up!   I find that particularly interesting, because that's the pattern you get with conditions that are carried on the X-chromosome, like colour-blindness.

I know the genetics of ASD are a lot more complex than that analogy would suggest (and not very well understood, as yet, but still...if that's anywhere near as common as my limited experience suggests, it would have hugely significant implications

AS father of AS daughter, mother NT.  I'd say Amber and I are hfa, but, quite frankly I hate that term and usually don't use it.  I turned out ok without any support or coaching or whatever.  We didn't have things like that in the Dark Ages.   :P  Amber is doing very well and is way ahead of me at the same age and point in her life.   8)Sophomore in High School.

Yes.  Yes it would.  At least as long as you got a well-mannered one.  A harsisis with an attitude would be a major pain.  Can you imagine a know-it-all kid that really did know it all?

I don't know any stats, but in my case, my Mom=AS my Dad=NT(although brainy/nerdy)

My oldest brother =NT, my sister=NT my older brother=NT ME=AS

My sisters youngest daughter=AS

I think there is a genetic component, but my suspicions are that it's on a recessive gene.

My mum and her sister are both orange-green colour blind. Mum has four brothers and they see colours normally. She also has some autie traits, liking order and routine, etc.

I have three sisters and they are definitely not autistic.

he would have to be protected from it all though. it would be locked in his head and he'd have no access to the information. but he'd be wise and spit out things like "if you immediately know that the candle light is fire, then the meal was cooked a long time ago..." :P that'd be infuriating or intriguing depending on your mood lol.
