As my wife would say:  "Your lips keep moving, but all I hear is BLAH BLAH BLAH."

Kiriana actually has a t-shirt with that saying on it.

Selling my wares at the flea market

Always had a pull in that direction.
Does it bring in enough to be worth
the time spent there? Given that one
picks garbage anyhow.

Always been doing it even my mom did when I was little also one of my brothers owns an antique shop.  As far as money goes most stuff I either get free or very cheep so I can make pretty good money and enjoy fixing up the stuff and looking for it.  It also gives me an opportunity to talk to other people about my obsessions which is a good outlet as it's one of the few places I can.  I also get the feeling many of the people I talk to may be on the spectrum also. All in all it's well worth it in money and interaction

The community at flee markets always intrigued
me, but 'twould take me time to fit into that.
I just see so many regulars, who never seem
to do much in the way of business, that I wondered
if they do much more than cover the stall fee.

The one I go to is a mixed one and by far the best in the state, Ct is a small state, it has some new stuff but mostly old stuff antiques  and collectibles. The site is first come first serve for vendors lining up begins around five am and it opens at seven closes after lunch before three it's forty to get in and you don't have to go every time we go once or twice a month and the money is defiantly worth it.

I had a friend who's father would dumpster dive and sell all the shit he found at the flea market over here. I went with him a couple of times, and I think we only ever barely recouped the stall fee (which was like $25 I think). Since those days I've been back once, but it's not really good for much other than stocking up on polyester shirts and practicing yr. spanish.

Makes sense. I generally look for shit that
isn't too salable, but might start picking up
stuff interesting to others, if I were to go
that route.

You have to go to the right ones and have the right stuff I specialize in tools,  military items, radios of the tube type and odd or unusual items.  I have sold stuff that went to local museums and used as props in plays.  I have never even on my worst day did not cover stall fee,gas to get there and lunch out and still went home with a fair amount of profit after that

Yeah, see, if it was like that out here, I'd go all the time. But honestly it's just the same stuff over and over again. I've been to one near Los Angeles and I liked that one a lot better.

Mostly, they seem to have gone downhill,
IMO. Less the random people just selling their
stuff. More and more dealers (a category parts
would qualify under), but even worse, more selling
just new stuff. To me, flee markets were pretty
close to trash picking, but with a better chance of
finding particular things. They used to be more
like huge garage sales.
