It's the original. The French made it to honour the US and the revolutionary past of both countries.

I don't have my Paris map handy, but I went to Bir Hakim metro station and, instead of going East on that big boulevard to go to Eiffel/Trocadero, I went West along the river bank for ~ 1 km. It is on an artificial Island in the middle of the Seine, closer to the North side, probably to allow for river traffic.

If the intro page to this place ever gets redone, something like the inscription on the Statue of Liberty would be fitting. Shame I didn't think of it at the appropriate time for that thread.
