Then you meet them and really decide for real whether you would want to pursue them romantically or not.  The internet and text are not real life, nothing substitutes real life.   I can be attracted to something written by someone else and everything, but that is not enough sadly to make me feel truly romantic towards them.  Pictures do help, I am a man and driven by visuals of course.   The point I was making is that romance can be independent of looks, as you can even try to be romantic with someone you haven't even seen before in person.   That doesn't make the romance as real as something that occurs face to face though.   It is just words at that point, no action.

so what you are saying is that blind men cannot be romantic?

Nope because they can use the senses of touch, smell and sound too.   Can't do any of that when you aren't in person though.   Blind people usually have enhanced senses in the other areas to compensate.  They might have certain smells, or feelings or the sound of someone's voice that attracts them.   Either way, nothing replaces being in the same room as someone else.

I have mixed feelings about this.
There is a scale. Writing alone
CAN evoke both arousal and
even love. Pictures help, in
imagining the other well. But,
I've been attracted to people,
in person, and once the clothes
begin to come off, shied away -
more for intellectual reasons than
any other, in that I'd ask some
questions, and not get the correct
response.
