^Believes in equality. Happy DOMA was over turned.
Is that meant as a dig? I do believe in equality, particularly when it comes to families.
I've watched my aunts struggle because they are not afforded the same rights as other couples. My aunt's wife who is uninsured (and cannot be insured under my other aunt's policy) has had a lot of health problems. They struggle to get by because of medical expenses.
In a previous relationship my aunt's partner had a child. They agreed to raise the child together as coparents because the child's father walked out and the woman became involved with my aunt. They later broke up because this woman "found jesus" and decided she wasn't gay anymore. Because my aunt is not the biological mother she had no legal rights. It was hard for her to get visitation with my cousin. She basically had to bribe the other woman to see her own child.
