It's been years since the last project but I'd say for about ten or fifteen years. I'm not sure I still have a security clearance, though. Those things need to be renewed every now and then.

There have been some interesting assignments from them, I have to say. It's a shame they aren't all that common these days.

I'd love to have security clearance.  Hell, I wasn't even given a key to my parents' house
till a few months before I moved out, at age 22.  Come on, I'm trustworthy!

It's just a label that is acquired a bit uneasily. Men in black have a look at your background and then decide if you should work for them.

Hmm sounds fun.

It is, sometimes.

So how would you start looking at someone's background?  Do you keep digging til you hit dirt?
blah blah blah

Some of the things they want to know are interesting. You must have been a wanted child, Odeon.

Can you give a general idea of what you worked on? When I had clearances it either maintaining spy planes or doing depot level rework of Fast Attack submarines.

I think they start by sending people to talk to your teachers from school and neighbors from all the different places where you have lived, to make sure that you are who you claim to be.

Generally speaking, it was either about documentation systems for various branches of the military or - in a few cases - information modelling for specific situations involving logistics during peacetime. Troop movements, supplies, the right equipment in the right place. That sort of thing.

And there was one really cool project where we modelled a lot more than that. That's about all I'm allowed to say about that particular project, though.

I was involved in one Navy project, incidentally involving subs.

I've also trained people for various information-related tasks.

My cousin married a man who eventually went to work for Redstone Arsenal where they develop weapons for the military.

Bad subs are no fun. They sink.
