Hello everyone... just registered a little while ago.

So let me get this straight?  It's an Aspie site where you can curse and talk trash all you want and not worry about getting banned?  If so, good!  I do believe I hear my inner Tourette's monster getting revved up.  There's no need to corrupt me, for my mind and vocabulary are already corrupt.

Okay, let me get this bit over with now at the start...  I am not officially diagnosed.  But try telling some people I know that I don't have it, and they'll probably argue with you 'till hell freezes over.  The best I can offer is my most recent RDOS Aspie Quiz score (AS: 132/200, NT: 72/200).  Will that suffice, or do I get bounced?

So, am I ashamed of it?  HELL, NO!  I'm a geek and fuckin' proud of it.  I'd be disappointed if I were to test negative for AS.

Well, it's midnight where I'm at, and I've gotta work tomorrow, so I reckon I'll talk to y'all later.

Hi Garmonbozia.  Glad to see you here.  It make absolutely no difference to us whether you have a diagnosis or not.  You are still welcome.

Good luck at work.  I hope you don't get set on fire.

Thanks everyone.  Well, I made it through the day without any pyrotechnics.  (Seriously, my co-workers are cool.  Only a complete and total assclown would have to worry about a pinkslip there.  I just needed an explanation for logging out so soon after registering.)

No need to worry about any spam from me.  I hate that crap, too.  I see y'all know Atomic Psycho.   :wanker:  I've seen his dirty work elsewhere.  The prick really knows how to piss people off.  Also, I always card my porn before I post it.

I like this site already.  It looks like someone cross-bred an Aspie site with Daily Rotten.  (BTW, Daily Rotten is the "other favorite website" for those of you who know me from those other Aspie sites.)

I'm glad y'all aren't hung up on the diagnosis thing.  I used to be hung up on it, wondering if I should go get tested.  After much thought, I decided "Oh, fuck it!"  It seems to me that's just for people who want brain-diddling, and need the dx to decide what kind of brain-diddling, or for kids who don't have any say in the matter.  For those of us who are satisfied with our odd personalities, it seems our social needs are the same regardless of whether some psych signs a piece of paper saying you've got it or just says you've got some of the traits.  Besides, I can piss off FAAAS by going around undiagnosed.  So, like I said, fuck it!

Well, I'm gonna go look around now.

If you ever need any services or accomodations, a diagnosis can be handy to have, but if not, then I agree with you.

and you get meds with it.

but yeah if you have no use for it best not waste the money/time...

The only head med I've ever taken was Lexapro.  (The dx was anxiety and social phobia, from a doc who didn't believe in AS.  I wasn't even trying to get an AS dx.  I just asked about it so my mother would get off my ass about it.  It suited me just fine to be able to tell her "The doctor said no."  Now I'm glad I didn't get dx'ed, with all the stuff I've heard of going on lately.)  My observation about Lexapro was that it gave me the same feeling I used to get after pulling an all-nighter in college and the resulting sleep deprivation.  You know how sleep deprivation feels like you're slightly drunk and nauseous, but overlain with a slight pleasant feeling?  Imagine the slight pleasant feeling all the time but without the drunk, nauseous feeling.  That approximates the effect Lexapro had on me.  It also tuned down the OCD such that I was inclined to double-check a lock only twice as opposed to five or ten times.  That was about four years ago.  The refills on that and the periodic monitoring visits are like another fucking bill to pay every month, and I decided I didn't need it that bad and came down off it.  These days, the only thing even remotely resembling that is the cup of mate yerba tea I drink every afternoon.

I think my aunt took Lexapro.  She had intrusive obsessive thoughts and they were getting in her way, so her doctor put her on it.  I don't think she still takes it, but it helped her when she really needed it.

I love this description!

By the way, how did you handle coming off Lexapro? I have done it twice and it was awful. I feel stuck on it now, but I am at a low dose.

I didn't have much of a problem, I believe.  At least I wasn't jonesing for it or anything like that.  I may have gotten a little cranky at work while getting used to being off it again.

About that time, one of my co-workers in an adjacent office had shrimp for lunch on a Friday, and accidentally left the uneaten portion on her desk over the weekend.  Come Monday, it stunk like motherfucking hell.  That on top of "a case of the Mondays" a la Office Space, and I lost it and said something out loud about being considerate of co-workers.  I don't know if it was Lexapro withdrawal or just me not being in the mood for crap.  I felt bad about that because I don't like being a workplace asshole.  I've had to deal with my share of those in my life.

I did take one precaution.  When I first started on it, the doctor had me cutting the pills in half and taking half-pills for the first few days, a sort of ramp-up.  Logically, I decided I better ramp-down and cut the last few pills, similarly ending with half-pills as opposed to quitting suddenly.  That may have helped.

There was a discussion about head meds on Daily Rotten a while back, in which another user told me I should consider myself lucky it was Lexapro and not any other antidepressant.  Apparently, that's an advantage Lexapro has over the others.
