After careful consideration, we booked a night away from home in a tiny little village in the middle of nowhere. Very few people around, no contact with anyone but the guy who served us in the hotel restaurant. We paid remotely, got the keys from a safety box, the hotel breakfast was left outside the room, and everything was super clean.

Their whisky selection was excellent, too. Money well spent.

We are getting a new heat pump/central air put in.

We are like 10 years overdue.

Might actually not have to rely on my hot flashes to be warm this winter. :autism:

Ours died about a year and a half ago. Really annoying when the house needs unexpected expensive stuff. Don't use the heat much, but the air conditioning is a must have. Made a huge difference in the electric bill but it was also about the same time energy costs dropped around here, so it's difficult to tell how much is actually due to the new unit. It would be interesting to see a three or four year analysis of monthly wattage usage for the house.

Whisky on special offer - Naked Grouse (Oloroso sherry cask blended malt) for £19 and Talisker 10 yo for £30 :glug:

And a flexible pipe cleaner, the boiler outflow is bunged up again.  >:(
