The rebuilding of my wife's transmission $2500
He only had the car two days though so at least it was fast
OUCH. My sister has a transmission problem. She paid for a computer test kit ($80), took it to the chain parts store and found out the part she needed. Bought it from some place in CA ($190) and waited 5 days for it to be sent and received. Found a guy to replace the part for $50, but he screwed something up and didn't finish the repair (well, actually she gave him the money and told him to get lost because he wasn't doing it right). Went to a local repair shop and was told they
only do American cars, not Japanese junk like Toyota, but
if he did it the bill would be $200 for labor. So she's going to do it herself if it ever gets cool enough (below 100 degrees).
