I thought that I might add something noteworthy here- while I was typing that last sentence my empy glass moved maybe two inches toward me, on its own.  There's not a breeze in here or anything.  Just so you know.  that happens ever so often.  Either my house/surfaces in the house aren't level (more than one surface does this, there have been at least three, and at least two I am certain aren't level and a third I suspect is uneven as well) or I have a polterghiest,  It's never attacked me or anyting though so if it's a ghost I'm not too worried.

Did the glass have condensed water on it?

Yes, so that's probably what it was.  The surfaces in my house ARE uneven, it's just odd that stuff moves randomly, even taking this into account.
it is well known that PMS Elle is evil.

I can answer that - because its a 'web bug' - it reports back to danasoft. by analysing the data they get from the millions of web bugs implanted in the clever little signs on forums all over the net, they can make inferences about surfing habits, etc. Which they can then sell on to marketers etc, obviously... bastards

Are you sure?

Danasoft.com doesn't log the IP addresses of people that view our signature graphics - we simply host the custom signatures. When a request comes in to display a signature, our software creates the sign "on-the-fly", and displays the viewer's IP and other computer info on the sign. Our software draws a new sign for every single person that views it.

The Danasoft.com signature graphic is not a website statistics tool. It cannot be used to tell you who is visiting your website because we do not provide that service, and as mentioned above, we don't even know who is viewing the signs since we don't log that information.

yeh, it doesn't log your IP address, otherwise I'd have said summat about about it - some forums won't allow them at all. I'm pretty sure the fucking things log 'clicks' though, linked to the url it was viewed from - giving them aggregate marketing information, even though it doesn't give any of this to site owners or the user of the signature.

Quote from: Danasoft's FAQ
Is the Danasoft signature a hacking tool, or can it be used to violate anyone's privacy?
Absolutely not! The Danasoft signature can never be used maliciously. Users come to Danasoft.com and create custom signs, with text that they choose, and they then display their custom signs in forums or on websites using a simple image link. We don't monitor or censor the text that users choose to display on their signs. Regardless of what prankster text might appear on a user's custom sign, the sign is totally harmless.

When you view the sign, you will see your IP address and computer info. When others view the sign, they will see THEIR information. Try it, ask a friend to visit danasoft.com. They won't see your IP, they will see their IP. Your information is never shown to others. This is always true, no matter where the Danasoft sign appears (within web pages, emails, etc).

Whenever you visit a website, your IP address is automatically broadcast to that site, and it's even broadcast to those sites that you don't visit when you load a website that contains images that are hosted by a third party, such as advertisements. When you load the Danasoft signature from a webpage, your IP address is automatically broadcast to us, just like any other site. Danasoft.com does not "hack" your computer to obtain your IP address. One of the purposes of the sign, besides for fun and amusement, is to spread awareness that your IP and other computer information is known to every website that you visit. If that concerns you, there are software programs available to mask your IP and other information when you surf the web, search Google for those.

For more info, read the privacy policy.

Go ahead, create your own sign to use in forums, on MySpace, on your website, anywhere!

Our goal is to provide you with a personalized Internet experience that delivers the information, resources, and services that are most relevant and helpful to you. In order to achieve this goal, we sometimes collect information during your visits to understand what differentiates you from each of our millions of other users.

In order to demonstrate our commitment to your privacy, we have prepared this statement disclosing the privacy practices for the entire DanaSoft.com site. Additional terms and conditions regarding the collection and use of your information are also be provided to you before you register for our site. Here, you will learn what personally identifiable information of yours is collected, how and when we might use your information, how we protect your information, who has access to your information, and how you can correct any inaccuracies in the information.

What information is collected:

DanaSoft.com collects certain information from and about its users in three ways -- directly from the user, from our Web server logs, and with cookies.

User-Supplied Information: When you register for DanaSoft.com, we may ask you for your name, email address, and some other personal information. The more accurate information you volunteer, the better we are able to customize your DanaSoft.com experience.

Server Log Information: When you visit an Internet Web site, you disclose certain information about yourself, such as your Internet Protocol (IP) address, the time of your visit, and the referring location (e.g., the Site or page that offered a link to a DanaSoft.com page). DanaSoft.com, like many other sites, records this basic information about visits to its site.

Cookies: In order to offer and provide a customized, personal service, DanaSoft.com uses cookies to store and help track your information as you travel throughout the site. For example, we may use cookies to help remind us who you are and to deliver content and services based upon your account information. In addition, third party advertising networks may issue cookies when serving advertisements.

Cookies are simply pieces of information that are sent to your browser from a Web server and stored on your computer's hard drive. The use of cookies is relatively standard and you will likely find them used on most other major Web sites. Most browsers are initially set up to accept cookies. If you prefer, you can reset your browser either to notify you when you receive a cookie, or to refuse to accept cookies. You should understand that certain areas of many sites may not function properly if you set your browser to not accept cookies or if you reject a cookie.

You should remember that whenever you voluntarily disclose personal information online, such as in message boards, through e-mail, discussion groups, or in chat areas, your information can be collected and used by others. Although DanaSoft.com tries to protect your personal information, DanaSoft.com cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us, and you do so at your own risk. You are also solely responsible for maintaining the secrecy of any passwords you set up and/or any account information.

How and When Information is Used:

We use information in different ways, depending on the type of information: User-supplied information: This information is used for purposes such as personalization and verification.

Web Server Logs: This information helps us identify which areas of our site are of interest to our visitors. DanaSoft.com also collects the Internet Protocol (IP) addresses of its visitors for the purposes of system administration and to report aggregate information to our advertisers.

Signature Graphic: Some users on Internet web sites link to our signature graphic. When a person views the signature graphic, they see their own IP address and other information only. It is not possible for your information to be viewed by others, as your IP address and other information are dynamically added to the graphic which is shown to you and to you alone when your web browser loads the signature graphic for our web server. The purpose of the graphic is to raise awareness about what types of information every Internet website can collect about you.

Cookies: We use cookies to let you use our services more easily and to let us keep track of certain statistical information that helps us improve our site. Cookies allow us to save passwords and preferences for you so that you won't have to re-enter them the next time you visit.

Your Email Address: We use your email address to send you information about your ResellerRatings account, such as your username and password, and confirmations of reviews that you have submitted to the site. From time to time, we may email you to let you know about new site features no more frequently than once per month but generally only a few times per year. Your email address is never sold or otherwise provided to a 3rd party.

How We Protect Your Information:

The privacy and protection of your personal information is vitally important to us. DanaSoft.com does not make personal information available to any third parties without your permission. Any user statistics that we may provide to prospective advertisers or partners regarding your DanaSoft.com usage are provided in the aggregate only and do not include any personally identifiable information about any individual user.

Your access to some services and content is password protected. We recommend that you do not divulge your password to anyone. In addition, if applicable, you should remember to sign out of your DanaSoft.com account or service at the end of each session. You may also wish to close your browser window when you have finished your work. This is to ensure that others cannot access your personal information and correspondence if you share a computer with someone else or are using a computer in a public place like a library or Internet cafe.

Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. Accordingly, despite our efforts to protect your personal information, DanaSoft.com cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us, or to or from our online products or services. You transmit all such information to us at your own risk. However, once we receive your transmission, we make our best effort to ensure its security on our systems.

For example, some DanaSoft.com services, such as our online store, are offered in conjunction with another company. In order to provide such co-branded services to you, it is necessary for us to share your personal information with the company offering the co-branded service. If you do not want your data to be shared, you can choose not to allow the transfer of data by not using that particular service. Remember to keep the confirmation e-mail as it will also contain information that will help you in case you run into problems accessing our services.

yep, thats the fucker. I thought they used to actually be clickable to take you to danasoft; whether this particular script logs the address of the page it is serving the image to is something they know and I don't (but can guess - they aren't doing this out of the goodness of their hearts)

I read this as a policy on one tech forum I frequent:

Quote from: admin guy
Please do not use DanaSoft, and other company, web bug signatures on the ....... forums.

Such sigs serve as web bugs providing companies, such as blockedwebbug, information about our readers that I feel violate their privacy.

These web bug signatures provide those companies the IP address, OS type and version, browser info, as well as the URL of the page being viewed when the sig is stumbled upon.  This information can be used to create targeted advertising as well as browsing histories of our readership, which is unacceptable from a privacy stand point.

I will remove any such signatures from users profiles as I find them.  Thank you for respecting our readers and posters privacy in this matter.

It probably did- it isnt a static image- it changes depending on who is viewing it. So when you view it it shows your IP address and when I view it it shows mine.

we just recieved the funding to produce the first annual I? Calender, and you have been selected to model for and represent one month.

Which month would you choose, and why?
and would you pose scantily clad, or bare chested?
Misunderstood.
