Some of our longtime Football teams like the Green Bay Packers ( 1919 ) and Pittsburgh Steelers ( 1932 IIRC ) were recruited from and named after local workers who packed fish or worked in Steel Mills initially before the College Draft system was implemented in the mid 1930s or so. At that time people payed more to watch college football and pro players often worked another job to support themselves and their families.
