Roots of plants take in nutrients, to successfully grow/live/survive, only in a liquid form.

Did you know that?

Also, plants, more precisely so their roots, live in symbiosis with fungi. 

Nil fungi.. no plants.

(no kid ya, too)

Nil (proper) bacteria.. no fauna, I believe also.. but ja, lack a proper backing-up for this idea, now..

.. but, but, think of your 'bowel system', for a while. When the bacteria 'garden' there is 'upset'.. you are too.

Since bacteria break up debris so that nutrients can be solved in water, I guess it is safe to say that in an area that is not "in vitro" plants without bacteria will not fare well.

In vitro the food can be administered in a liquid form, so, who knows, in lab conditions, maybe plants can grow without bacteria.

This belongs in the possibly useful fact thread.

For some trees and hedges, it can be vital to transport some of the original soil they grew in to the place they are transferred to, or they will perish.
