This isn't really a useless fact, but it fits in with Part's post. FEMA uses Waffle House as an index on how fast an area is recovering from a disaster. It seems that Waffle House is common enough that almost every area has one. They have a disaster plan that they can begin serving a limited menu without electricity. I would imagine they have small generators that keep the refrigerators running. The faster the Waffle House opens, the less serious the disaster.
