Can not really expound much without tears, but my expectation of the purity of life's force has changed.

Even when you do your best, you could still fail, and  leave people behind who needed you to remain for them.

Have not really talked much about it here, but my "new neighbor" (Iraqi war veteran),  did not come home this week end. He was home, but died in a bar fight a month after leaving the Marines and all that was his life for the past four years.

Been a rough week. I had kids over through the coldest nights.

I could not attend the funeral.

It was about a month and a half ago, when I first met him at the kids' bus stop. He had dyed his buzzed hair purple/pink and pierced everything visable in a week and wore horrid clothes, mostly cut up militaria, rings on every finger, AMERICAN shithead, clothes, ipod.

I decided immediately that "I have known this man" (remember, I was a bit too young to be in Viet Nam, even though many of my friends went to help and I could see in his eyes the same things I saw in the few friends who came home so long ago) and I could could instantly see his pain and I vowed to become his friend)( I would find a way to welcome hm to the neighborhood.

I have all kinds of shit to have shown him that would probably have been an interest, and matbe created a "conversation or two" or at least a barbeque, but instead, I see his kids left here and they have no father.

Not taking an interest in people you might get to know makes life damn too empty.

Have been avoiding people for a very long time. May hurt taking an interest, but the emptiness is worse IMO.

I'm slightly allergic myself, though not enough to need an inhaler. During my eight years
