Gold can be dissolved in a mix of 3 parts 37% HCl and 1 part 99% HNO3 called "king's water" in Swedish ("aqua regiæ" in Latin).

But it's a more recent addition, right?

No. They made it already in the 1950s. It's to avoid radiation starting a nuclear chain-reaction by mistake. They separate the uranium/plutonium from the neutron source with thin gold foil.

I think they use nickel in the Hiroshima bomb, as well as in most detonator bombs for the early H bombs in the fifties. Gold makes sense, though.

In German all nouns begin with a capital letter, except the noun " bißchen" ("little bit"), probably while it functions more like an adjective or adverb that an noun. But on the other hand adjectives can become nouns in German "substantivierte Adjektive" and will then also get their first letter capitalized.  :-\

My wife is going to have to carry around an undercover FBI agent, wearing a "Brown"  uniform and posing as a trainee.  There is a large company, that has had a large quantity of "letter checks"  stolen  -  the kind most companies use these days, with special ink backgrounds and hidden watermarks to prevent fraud. Kind of defeats the purpose of all that authentication and security shit, if the checks get stolen.

In order to enhance the perceived authenticity of these fake checks to the banks where these checks are being cashed, they are using mass mailing services to get real postal markings and having the checks mailed to hundreds of post office boxes around the nation. One of the services which has processed over two hundred of the bad checks is on my wife's normal pick-up route. This big company has already spent millions of dollars switching over to a new checking system, due to this, but the losses from cashing these checks are even larger.
Quite a scam!
It has all been accomplished very suddenly, by a crook who knows the company's system.

So, she has to kick around with an armed G-Man until they catch the crooks. I tried to point out that it is as much for her safety as it is a chance to catch the crooks, in case they try to jack her truck after the pick-up is made. She should appreciate having the Big Man along with her.
I don't think that she wanted to hear that and I doubt that it helped.

"Diet Coke" is called "Cola Light" in Sweden, despite that "light" isn't in the Swedish vocabulary while "diet" is.

A river in one of the Nordic countries is called "älv" in Swedish, while a river in all other countries is called "flod". "Flod" also means "high tide" in Swedish.
