Despite not being "democratic" Prussia had no laws against homosexuality until 1871, when the Second Reich was founded. It also had no gun laws until 1920, while "democratic" UK had both harsh punishments for homosexuality and licensed guns as early as 1903.

The German expression "Auf Tauchstation"="Be alert" (literally "at diving station") comes from a popular book in Nazi Germany about submarine Captain Müller, who was rescued from his submarine sinking thanks to a big air bubble in his pants.  :viking:

Maybe. It was a famous kid book back then anyway, and the expression has survived 70 years.

The only area in the Third Reich that was evacuated in due time before the Red Army invaded was the Memel district in northern East Prussia. The civilan population was allowed to leave the area already in October 1944. In the rest of the eastern provinces the evacuation was allowed first on the 20th of January 1945, eight days after the Soviet offensive along the whole central eastern front had begun.

The British dumped 200 small pox infected POW's on the beach of my town during the Revolution.  They were brought to the sick house which was near my friends house where most of them died along with a couple people who helped them.  There is a large monument in the cemetery down town where they buried them  and a plaque by the beach

Another  "scientist"  has claimed to have discovered evidence of fossilized bacteria in a meteoroid, indicating that life has indeed evolved outside our solar system.

Posted yesterday, actually, with some nice pics if anyone is interested and has not yet heard.

My home parish and whole or parts of the neighbour parishes were presumably a small kingdom about 1500 years ago. There are no real evidence that this is a fact, but it is a fact that some names on places here are so old that their original meaning is lost, which indicates that the area doubtlessly was inhabited 1500 years ago.

Potassium salts are usually non-hygroscopic, with the exception for potassium carbonate, that is so hygroscopic that it's even delisquescent.
