I don't think they are, either. But the British have developed a twisted sense of humour to deal with the crap thrown at them in life. (Well, that's how I normally deal with my issues -- moan a lot, add a little humour into the mix.)

I have a problem with this attitude because I have never placed a hierarchy based on what can or cannot be used when it comes to comedy. If some anecdote is done correctly, regardless if it is about rape, pregnancy, whatever, then I will laugh at it. Though I do not believe that by laughing at this humour it makes me a terrible person; I know full well that these issues are serious and are detrimental to a lady's well-being.
