what is spamming, exactly?

I was just accused of spamming at a non-AS board.  I invited 17 people to a different board of the same topic via PM.  10 people accepted and registered.  Then I get a PM from the admin saying I am spamming.

Do I not understand what spamming is?

I thought spamming was sending out a huge amount of messages to random people.  All these people were hand selected.

This makes me think of Alex claiming that URLs for alternate AS sites is "spamming."

So... am I a Spammer Extraordinaire?

First we need to agree on what spam is before we can know what to do with it. Know thy enemy, sleep with him, study him until you know what it's thinking before it does it know's itself. Yes, but I figured he meant what he was linking to is spam.  I still say: too clever for spam.  Spam must be empty of meaning, and dirty.  It feels dirty to give it, and dirty to get it.
