so your jab at litigious was a joke.  yet anything that the pea has to say is insulting?

seems to me that some people get to play by a different set of rules than others.

I know; she's so self-absorbed in her own little fantasy world of logistics and arthimetical equations.

Self-absorbed - Not at all

Why would I be on here willing to debate the issues with you if I was self-absorbed??

You don't even want open, respectful debate though P

I am insulting in a more subtle way, P is just peurile

I don't descend to sexual or insulting remarks

Well I differ from Robert in not jumping on the 'Hate All Things American' bandwaggon as I feel it's a simplistic and facile argument

I think we have a lot to be grateful to America for - we probably wouldn't have won the 2nd World War without your help

You're also the biggest kid on the block so to turn you into an enemy seems pretty dumb to me as well...

On the other hand, there is a lot of stuff America does that I don't agree with

I think the rise of the fundamentalist Christian right is very worrying

There's a mixture of good and bad tho, not all bad
just like intensity.

there is good and there is bad.
but the greatest good is the freedom to speak.
the second greatest good comes from the greatest good.
since people can speak, freely, others can make informed decisions.

america does alot of things that a majority of americans do not agree with.  such is life.  but with information, we can change things.

your site will like never evolve.  it is cozy, and people cannot speak freely.  too many pleasantries, and imho, not enough honesty.
well, except for the people who are allowed to speak, like yourself.  and others who are ethnocentric and kiss the arses of those in charge over there.  kinda like what ascans gripe is about this place.  funny, how his argument about us seems to be unerversal to all.
Misunderstood.

pea may have asberger traits that are not as high functioning as those that you possess.  are you saying that he must learn to be more like you, more NTish?

descend, huh?
seems intolerant as to how others cope with things.  not everybody here descends to sexual or insulting comments, either.
have i been insulting in this conversation?

hey, wann suck my dick?

I think people can speak pretty freely on AV, we just put a limit on things when they
get too aggressive/offensive

We are more controlled but then I would say that is a good grounding for living in society
where there are rules to be adhered to

Our site is evolving as well - how can it not when there are new people joining all the time,
bringing different ideas to the table.

the point is that you were rude to litigious, yet no reprocussions.

the rules of society need to be torn down.  look around you, is life fair?
the entire social structure needs to be revisited.  the rules in life only favor the elite.
except for the basic rules of harmingf someone elses person or property.

your rules are speech orientated.  the second that society begins to put limits on speech or thought is the second that the regular guy has lost everything.

Yes, I take your point

But using your line of argument, all behaviour can be excused

I mean if you say you accept anyone on this site, what about a person who felt they
could only express themselves by killing people?

Are you saying they are to be accepted as 'one of the gang' as well?

I'm interested to know where your 'cut off' point is, as regards acceptable behaviour
if indeed you have one

your argument doesn't hold water.

i already stated that obvious crimes against people or property are obviously wrong.

someone here, started a baby fuck thread as a joke, i hope.  and the other people here came down on them for it.  the community regulated itself, deciding right from wrong.  a few select elitists didn't make the choices based on their own bias' and sensitivities, but the whole community voiced disdain for this.

Ok

But your tolerance is a very variable and subjective thing

I mean I don't think you're that tolerant of people you don't like on here sometimes

I mean a thread about who you dislike the most is a bit petty imo - where's the tolerance there?

i do believe that my name came up the most in that thread.

i am glad to be of service.  glad that i can make people feel.

ones pttiness is anothers honesty.  if i didn't already think that i was perfect, then that thread would have been helpful to me.  it would have put things into perspective and i may have learned something about myself, even though what i had learned was through the eyes of others.

Being given honest feedback by your peers is a useful way of learning but the ultimate usefulness of any advice given is going to be dependent on the nature of the peers themsleves

but if the advice of your peers is one of comfort, of fimiliarity, then what are you truly learning about yourself.  you need diversity to get a real picture.  getting advice from likeminded people is like spinning your wheels....you are never moving forward.

The only two X-ring hits I see, so far.

Wrong. It's what you do with it that matters. Ignoring it is a valid option.
Jimi Hendrix: When the power of love overcomes the love of power the world will know peace.

Ghandi: Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.

The end result of life's daily pain and suffering, trials and failures, tears and laughter, readings and listenings is an accumulation of wisdom in its purest form.

Yes, but surely advice from a person too different from yourself will result in them trying to make you more like them and you might not even have the capability or inclination to be so anyway

If the person doesn't have your best interests at heart, they can give you some really f-ed up advice too ie they can have a hidden agenda and are trying to boost their ego at your expense

this is where the spirit of the self enters the picture.

surely by the time you are in your forties you have some perspective.  you know what you are to some degree.
