Whether you call it a clique, a group of friends, a cult just because people hate being lumped together doesn't make it less true that certain people will almost always jump to the defence of certain other people- yes that also happens with the non-popular people.    All perfectly allowed under the banner of free speech and I realise there is nothing to do to change that. its just human nature, but lets not all pretend that we're somehow all special people above all that.

i will only "jump to the defence" of people i agree with.  i've disagreed with odeon before now - look at the debate on global warming, back in november 2007, or whenever it was.

i'm not a sheep, as you well know - although i dare say cal wishes i were, on several levels - and i find it vaguely distasteful that you're making an assumption that others on here are.

I actually disagree because I've had the 'privilege' of being on both sides of this- I've had the PM's trying to persuade me round to the popular line of thinking. I've also been part of the smaller group having their opinions written off because of who they agree with.

 :o

And I thought Hadron's tactics were disgusting.  :P

Jeeze. I can't believe this crap.

i'm curious.  answer the fucking question, Goalpost Boy.

Nope. Unlike your CLAIM, I'm not shifting in order to please anyone.

i rest my case, cal.  you can't back up your claims.

QED.

so give me a good reason why i, or anyone else, should give any credence whatsoever to anything else you say?

and i thought I2 was started specifically so people had to back up what they said or stfu.

What the fuck kind of claim is it that I have an opinion about
people? How could I NOT?

Sometimes, your blindness, in order to attack me,
is most perplexing.

blindness?  and could you explain the relevance of the above quotation to the post of mine you quoted, please.

other than that, answer the fucking question, or stfu.

Uhm...did that get personal?
Did you move to attempts to
simple drown out what he was
saying?

Reasoned debate about matters of
disagreement is wonderful. And completely
different with what we're seeing here.

The only CLAIM of mine to which this is referring
is that I believe that there is a clique, involving yourself,
Callaway, and Odeon. Now, I cannot possibly prove to
you what my beliefs are.

I see no fucking reason why any other members of
such a group would possibly convince you that I do
indeed think that, if my current words do not.

so the clique which you said is

The clique is loose. Not terribly well defined.

is now very well defined indeed, and consists of me, odeon and callaway, yes?

/listens to the thunder of goalposts stampeding all over the place.

You're intentionally misunderstanding,
I suspect. There are people who are
DEFINITELY in it. I'd say the three
of you are among those.

When I say "not well defined" I do mean that
there are people who seem to ride in its orbit.
I also meant that the members probably aren't
particularly aware (though revelation of some
sort of 'recruitment drive' is obviously changing
my mind on THAT - I had really presumed that
this was all just 'thinking alike' and not 'toeing the
line') of any particular goals or even of their existence
as a real group - ah, poor naive thing, always proved
wrong, even though I think I'm seeing the worst.

Huh. Didn't know PM's like that were one of the 'perks' of being a popular member. The only ones I've exchanged about conflicts are private making amends, strategy talk, and explanations of actions involving reasons more personal to smear over the board.
You'll never self-actualize the subconscious canopy of stardust with that attitude.

Yeah. I'm pretty disgusted hearing about this.
I thought ONLY hadron resorted to such crap.
But, at least his were not an attempt to change
minds based on 'friendship' (I had an uncle who
was friends like that, with the police and fire unions -
ended up serving time for it), merely gaming
elections.
