I have been going to WP for a look and a few posts now that it's holidays and I don't have much to do.

Someone asked about whether drug addicts are welcome in psych wards and others said of course they are, they have mental illness too. I was going to say in my experience, they are disruptive and take time away from people with dxed illnesses and those young people with early psychosis and such. Addicts should be kept separate and have services catered to them, not mixed in with the mentally ill population.

I held my tongue though because of all the support they were getting.

Quite a few addicts will be addicts because of mental problems. But having them on a regular psychiatric ward while still using does not seen smart to me.

  Also, housing addicts with non-addicts can make things really unpleasant for the non-addicts.
  Happened recently to my friend, whose hospital roommate turned out to be a heroin addict.
  Roomie had all kinds of sketchy "friends" visiting him in the room with drug deliveries.  My friend
  fortunately is strong and alert, and quickly reported the criminal activity to hospital staff, but imagine
  if the addict had been housed with a frail elderly person, or someone too sick to be aware of what was
  going on.  That person could have been robbed or worse.  Not cool in a hospital setting.

I haven't been there in years and though I have Amber's user name and password...the urge to troll is non existent.  The colors, the look, the posts, <barf>  and at the risk of speaking for someone else, and I will withhold the name, wp is truly a shit site.
