I've not been going for walks either since my dog died, and because the weather was absolutely horrific through the whole of winter here, I got very little exercise.  Now I'm trying to get back into it, but I've lost a lot of strength, and I keep picking up viruses that set me back.

I hate winter! I hate losing a good dog. I hate feeling defeated, so easily. I feel vulnerable to attack. I don't usually have that lack of confidence. I feel like prey.

... and I will be very close to my expiration date. Men don't live long in my family, but I have been eating more healthfully, than my father ever did, for almost twenty years, with only an occasional dip into gluttony.

Every time we get some nice weather, and I decide to spend some time out in the garden and open my windows, it's ruined by everyone and their dog deciding to mow their law/hammer something/use their power-tools, and since they all do it at different times, there's a fairly constant barrage of irritations as one person finishes and another starts.  Then of course there's the rush-hour traffic flying past the house in the afternoon, since we live on a rat run.

Our beautiful, little quiet street has turned into a rat run, since they built a Walmart about a mile away. It's bumper to bumper, during rush hour.

Mum wrote a letter recently to our MP, asking for traffic calming measures to be installed on our road.  It's full of potholes because we get lorries and buses coming down here, and it's a residential road that was never designed to handle that sort of traffic.  Our problem is that traffic can skip a couple of roundabouts by cutting through here.

My hip hurts. I'm going to need a cane before long if this continues.

Might be bursitis. The good thing is that you might get drugs against the pain.

Could be. I'd rather do without the drugs, though, so I think I'll wait and see some more first...

An anti-inflammatory drug might help it recover faster and better, though.  I tripped on a 2 by 4 plank and twisted my ankle right after I got married.  I went to the doctor and she told me to stay off it and gave me a non steroidal anti inflammatory medication, I assumed for pain, so I kept trying to take them only if the pain got especially bad and when I told my doctor this, she said to take them anyway and not skip any.

It's not my cardio-vascular system that punked out, though. It was my joints. God DAMN it!

Try swimming. It's a lot easier on them.

It's my knees, mainly, but I have a couple of old, once broken, toes that started bitchin', too.

Why don't you just heal them? I was aging awhile ago, and decided to reverse the trend. Worked
fine.
