There are very few real men today. Some jerks tried to rob my father on his cell phone once at the central station in Gothenburg. They didn't have guns, buth they were in their 20s and he was 45 or so at the time. He just said that he would beat the crap out of them if they didn't just piss off. They did.

Dad called the cops later and asked what had happened if he had beaten the crap out of them. They said that he'd most likely been prosecuted for excessive self-defense. Modern society wants people to be cowards.

Because after paying those taxes to the state, the state in return gives us a lot of free or cheap services. Every Swede below 20 gets free dental care. Going to a public specialist MD costs about $40 and after three visits, it's free for the rest of the year counted from the first visit. Medications are subsided. Ambulance transportations are free. X-rays are free. STD tests are free. If you are disabled, you get up to 93% of your rent paid by the state. And so on.

I know. It's like the gun issue or the death penalty. The American view differs a lot from the European.

Most people here think that everyone has to see a doctor sometimes in their lives and that everyone can be disabled in accidents and such. In those cases it feels very safe to know that the "system" takes good care of you.
