Is this forum anti-Intensity?
« on: February 07, 2007, 03:57:15 PM »
When the idea for this forum was first discussed it was supposed to be a place where people could post suggestions or about problems with the site without fear of having to face a back-lash if their idea went down badly. It seems that its rarely used for that purpose.  Instead people are using it to post things that they don't want to put their name to.  To me this goes against the whole principle of having to back up your words and to me that is anti-Intensity.   Its cowardly and whilst I understand that some people use this forum to try stir things up a bit, why can't they do so and put their name to it?

So the question is- what do other members feel about this forum?

i mean i haven't really given it much thought.

why don't we take it over and turn it into the anti-emo forum.  where there are no rules and only anarchy applies?
Misunderstood.

Sadly I thought that was what the whole of Intensity was supposed to be like.

And what about the admins not 'outing' cowards guest posters?

well, i guess that if this forum is declared under anarchy rule than all bets are off.

it would have to be a gentlemany thing not to out people.

When I first threw out the idea(s) for this, I thought it would be a place for guests to post and try the site on for size!  Which has happened to some degree, but, it turned more into a place where former disgruntled members could hit and run and present members can be anonymous.  It was not intended to be a site for posting suggestions about the site, IMO.

Turning it into a "No rules, anarchy forum" would certainly apply to the term "free for all".

Well, if your going to have anarchy, then "outing" should be allowed!  IMO

Don't allow or frown on "Outing" in the general forums where guests can post,  unless it's something really nasty and outrageous!

Suggestions I have:

We keep it as it is and change the name to what it really is: the Coward and shit stirrers forum.

We change the name to the suggestion box- posts about the site are kept anonymous, whilst other 'guest' posters are outed if a member asks.

We go with your suggestion and make it a 'gloves off' forum, no politeness, no pc bullshit and no rules about whether admins out members or not.  If you're a site member and post here as a guest you take the chance that someone will out you.

We leave it just the way it is- no-one else gives a shit really

I stand corrected, guess I don't read certain things after awhile.  The third suggestion sounds intriguing and good!  But, if it goes to the fourth suggestion.......I don't really give a shit! :-* ;)

I have a hard enough time keeping up with stuff, without contradictions being deliberately introduced. I'd have to agree, it is the definition of anti-Intensity, the way I understand it. I kind of thought that once we become members of Intensity, that we no longer needed to have safety nets or airbags and that we can deal with the real world the way it is, feast or famine, rain or shine, Ginger or Maryann ...

I like your third suggestion.

Jimi Hendrix: When the power of love overcomes the love of power the world will know peace.

Ghandi: Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.

The end result of life's daily pain and suffering, trials and failures, tears and laughter, readings and listenings is an accumulation of wisdom in its purest form.

I agree that it's cowardly for people who are already members to post here. I like the idea of keeping it for the people who want to try out the site without registering, but the admins should be able to out the cowards who say things they don't want to put their name too.
