I first thought about the gears in my brain not working, heh. I have felt pretty out of it in the past. I looked for a picture of a persons head with the gears/cogs turning inside and couldn't find one I wanted. I did find a .gif of gears turning behind a wall and used that on WP. After that I just thought I may as well keep with the gears/cogs thing so I don't have any problems deciding on an avatar.

I kind of like having this "theme" going now. :)

They use cogs for their emblems.
The meaning of the name is to do with autonomy: Don't be the cog in someone elses machine, be the cog driving the machine around you.
