"Bernie for President" would look great on your bumper.

He already had his chance and he failed.  :zoinks:

That's funny. I thought the Dems gave Crooked Hillary the chance to run for POTUS.

Well, it has been said that people end up with the politicians they deserve. Ours are not much better than yours currently.

I'm hopeful we wont only have the last election's losers to choose from.  :zoinks:

It doesn't matter much. You'll probably just elect Trump again.

I've heard that there's no cure for the sort of thing that makes people vote for Trump.

It's way to soon to even have a good guess. Though if it's any comfort, while his approval ratings are erratic, they've been trending upward compared to his first year.  :zoinks:

When you have compulsory voting like we do, approval ratings matter a lot more.

With your system, you can't rely on a low approval rating for your opponent to get you over the line. You've actually got to motivate people to get out and vote for YOU.

The US should probably start by making things a bit easier for people to vote.

Yeah well I think people who don't want to vote shouldn't vote.  :dunno:

When you force people to vote you get a bunch of disinterested people making uninformed choices. Often they will only remember some negative soundbite they heard recently and vote based on that. That's not always a good thing.

When you don't force people to vote you get a smaller bunch of interested people making generally uninformed or poorly informed choices. That's not always a good thing.

Forcing people to vote would take away their freedom to not voice an opinion, to reject the candidates or the system, and for some even a violation of their religious freedom. Maybe I'm an optimist, but I prefer to assume that people who care enough to vote do care enough to be as informed as they can be. Just how informed can anyone actually be, might be a different conversation.  :dunno:

Of course. That's why you elected Trump for President. Because of all the well informed choices being made.

Here you don't actually have to vote. But you do need to turn up and get your name crossed off the list. I was never a big fan of compulsory voting but then you see what can happen when you give people the option of not turning up and what can happen and you start to think... maybe it's not such a bad idea after all.

Trump isn't a fluke, his election wasn't based on the misinformed or uninformed, and he was elected because the public are sick of politicians. I think they still are, and that's the best thing he has going for him to be reelected. :dunno:

:lol1: That makes me wonder what's the difference. What's the stats for people who show up and refrain from voting?  :orly:

May not need to.

If he makes it, all the democrats probably have to do is run someone who isn't so elderly, and also not a female unless it's Oprah.

If he does run again, will be very interested to know the turnout rate. The rate of the latest mid terms elections was the highest in 100 years.

I never want presidents to get reelected, because I can't tolerate so many years of people complaining about them.  :lol1:

You're assuming the national emergency we're under won't have him suspend elections/normal government.

That's correct. Does that mean you're assuming otherwise?

No. I'm not. He has intimated about the use of force though.
I wouldn't put it past him to try. I mean, his and his children's freedom
may well depend on it.
