Barry Manilow has finally come out
« on: April 05, 2017, 02:10:32 PM »
Quote
For years Barry Manilow kept his sexuality a secret, fearful of how fans might react.
"I thought I would be disappointing them if they knew I was gay," the legendary singer recently told People magazine. "So I never did anything."

Barry...if you're out there reading this somehow.

We knew.
We always knew.
We said it for years.

...and no one cared.
It didn't matter.

We're glad you've finally become secure enough  with yourself to say it.

Carry on.

Damn shame.
Like he was the only gay man in the entertainment sector? Never really cared for his music, but never cared for his sexual preference. Never was an issue. We do agree sometimes IQ
I2 today is not i2 of yesteryear. It is a knitting circle. Those that participate be they nice or asshats know their place and the price to be there. Odeon is the overlord

.Benevolent if you toe the line.

Think it is I2 of old? Even Odeon is not so delusional as to think otherwise. He may on occasionally pretend otherwise but his base is that knitting circle.

Censoring/banning/restricting/moderating myself, Calanadale & Scrapheap were all not his finest moments.

How to apologise to Scrap

It was kind of obvious, but I'm glad he did it.

I've always thought Barry Manilow was gay. That's weird how he has only just come out!

There's a term for that:  "glass closet."  Meaning, it's not official, but everybody knows.  :toporly:

Loved it, but misunderstood his saying  "I've been alive forever/And I wrote the very first song."
I took it literally, I thought the song was about some immortal who really did write the very first song.
Now I get it.  It means, "I've been in show business for fucking ages, and god I'm old."

And at the time he released the song (1975), he was actually still pretty young.
Maybe he was projecting into his future, seeing the showbiz veteran he would one day be.  8)

I thought the song was about some immortal who really did write the very first song.

That's what it's about.

Quote
This was written by Bruce Johnston, who is a member of The Beach Boys. The song is sometimes erroneously rumored to be about Brian Wilson. Johnston cleared this up when he told us: "The Captain & Tennille were the first artists to record my song 'I Write The Songs.' I never wrote 'I Write The Songs' about Brian Wilson. I wrote it about 'where music comes from' (for me, music comes only from God).
